| commentaire : | Original Paris city map from the 1679 Dutch produced atlas of France 'De Franse Merkurious'. Double-page fold-out copperplate engraved map of Paris (Parys) and it's environs. The map is worn. particularly along the edges and has two very small holes at the junction o fthe double-fold. There is an old repaired tear at left with little loss in the anonymous 'farmland' portion of the map inside the left margin. Plate mark measurements ca26x33cm. The margins are very small and also slightly curled at left from wear at the book hinge. Medium-weight linen-based paper with chain lines and a blank verso. The scan of the title page for the atlas is given for a documentary reference -- we own it but it is not included. This is a rare and original antique map of one of the principal capitals of Europe. guaranteed to be ca 328 years old. |
