commentaire : | Copper engraving made by Noël Cochin in 1662. First state (of II), published in Paris by Nicolas Berey.
Splendid view of the city of Paris. In the top middle the coats of arm of France and Paris. A further 10 medaillions with coats of arms across the sky above the city. In the front various lively scenes: people promenading, an artist drawing, coaches with travellers approaching the city, young adults skirmishing, a group of horseback riders gathering for falcon hunting, travelers on foot, horse or with a mule leaving and going towards the city.
Printed from 4 plates, cut short to the edge, old (originally?) mount on paper, an additional interesting legend with “notable places” was mounted onto the print in the upper right area.
Some foxing, some folds, but a very nice copy nevertheless.
Size: approx. 40 x 212 cm.
